Misrepresentations, Erroneous Conclusions, and Ethical Breeches consists of two images of myself seated across from one another at a small table, viewed from the side. These figures interact with one another through a series of gestures that don’t quite play out the way the gesture suggests they should socially. The video is broken up into several short vignettes, which lasts between twenty and ninety seconds. Each vignette focuses on a particular gesture or set of mundane gestures: handshake, kiss and slap, hand slapping game. The piece explores the body, specifically gesture, as a text that reveals and inscribes meaning within social spaces.
